As safety goes, I much prefer false positive over false negative for AC
Need to do blind test so operator of scanner has no clue what’s on other side. You are cheating without realizing it.
They are most likely reading the magnetic field of the electrical that is running through. So you will have false readings depending on how far the device is scaning for the electrical.
