  2. I will say this as a retired master electrician if you can afford the commercial grade device in the long run will save both time and money they last way longer than the residential ones. The ease of installation alone makes them my choice . Tip always land the wires on the screws if you use the residential outlets I have repaired many that were quick wired . Good video.

  3. The outlet tester is great but, if you want to step up – there is the Klein ET310 which is the outlet tester with a circuit finder. You plug the outlet tester/transmitter into the outlet and it sends a signal through the wire to the breaker. The receiver is then run up and down the breaker box to find the one that controls that outlet. Great tool and around $75 US.
    With wire strippers I have used some white-out to mark the 14 gauge solid setting.
    Great description of how to wire a plug. One of the things that I have noticed is that the electrician who wired my house wrapped the plug in black electrical tape. One strip that covers the ground, hot, and neutral screws. That way no loose wires can come in contact with the plug.
